Family History Page
September 14th, 2006
Primary purpose of this page is to report information relevant to the project of writing a comprehensive family history started by Tony (W22) in the late 90's, which sadly came to a halt with his death in 2002. All the archival documents and other material he assembled have been preserved pending a resumption of the project. Your editor is very pleased to report that it has now been restarted, initiated in a meeting of Derek (W15), Michael (W52), Evan (W22B), Jonathan (A11), and David (W52B), on June 22nd.
The approach in re-launching the project will be initially to conduct a series of interviews of a cross section of people, family and otherwise, who we believe can make a significant contribution. Decision to do this was made primarily because we believed that, rather than a dry historical narrative of factual events, the history should make for lively and interesting reading. This was amplified by a recent event in Jonquiere honouring the family attended by Harold (W21), Derek, and Evan, in which it was clearly demonstrated that great affection still exists in that part of the country for the Price Family. It seemed appropriate accordingly, that a representative cross section of those present be interviewed to get their recollections, some passed down through one or more generations. Of course interviews of family members will also be on the agenda, and the members of the older generations should expect to be contacted for this purpose in due course. We have engaged the services of Louisa Blair to conduct these interviews, and are currently in the process of determining interview candidates.
At this point, the project is adequately funded. Target date for completion is 2010 at the family reunion to honour the 200th anniversary of our founder's arrival in Quebec.
Updates will be posted as they become available.
